Noisy Computer

When a pc or laptop starts making a clattering noise it very often indicates that the hard drive (where all system and personal information is stored) is starting to come to the end of it's life.

In these instances we strongly advise that you back up all your data without delay and seek advice from an experienced, qualified pc engineer. If the hard drive decides to break, it cannot be repaired, and in some cases all data is lost.

To check other sources of noise, such as loud humming, you can try cleaning out system and case fans (carefully!), as often these become clogged with dust and then start making funny noises as a result.

If you notice a fan is struggling to rotate, even after cleaning, it needs replacing. Fans are integral to the smooth functioning of a pc (cooling down the very hot internal components to prevent meltdown) and need replacing if the pc is to continue to work.

All advice should be followed with caution and we are unable to accept liability if anything goes wrong.
